On-demand CIIP certification testing begins in March

Certification's volume growth allows increased convenience for when candidates can schedule and complete tests

(January 23, 2013) — Beginning March 5, 2014, candidates will be able to schedule tests for Certified Imaging Informatics Professional (CIIP) certification on days and at times convenient for them according to the American Board of Imaging Informatics (ABII).

"This added convenience comes at a time when ABII and its CIIP certification is experiencing stable growth and acceptance by the industry," according to J. Anthony Seibert, Ph.D., CIIP, FSIIM, board of trustees chair. "Within just five short years, more than 1,000 informatics professionals hold the CIIP credential." Until now, certification tests were held as "event tests," meaning candidates were given the choice of sitting for the tests during one of two pre-determined days and times each year.

Increasingly, ABII's CIIP certification is being more widely recognized. In 2012, the revised ACR-AAPM-SIIM Technical Standards for Electronic Practice of Medical Imaging include CIIP certification through The American Board of Imaging Informatics (ABII) as a demonstration of competency to practice as an imaging informatics professional.

ABII partners with over 200 Pearson VUE professional centers to deliver the certification test for the Certified Imaging Informatics Professional.

Individuals interested in pursuing certification can currently create user accounts on ABII's website and complete the qualifications process. (Individuals with existing accounts who have yet to schedule a test can still access their accounts.) All candidates will be able to logon beginning March 5 to complete an application for certification. Once applications are received and validated, candidates will receive email confirmations and further instructions on scheduling tests at days and times convenient to them.
